The Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics
The Neurosequential Model is a developmental, biological, and Trauma informed approach to working with at-risk children.
Throughout the development of the assessment we focus on Developmental Risk, Developmental History, and Relational Health to create a Brain Map of the Brainstem, Cerebellum, Limbic, Cortex, and Frontal Cortex functioning to understand how trauma has specifically affected the individual throughout the Intrauterine, Perinatal, Infancy, Early Childhood, and Childhood. Creating the Brain Map we look at areas that are Developed, Emerging, Precursor, and Underdeveloped to target with specific interventions to address undeveloped areas of the brain. These interventions will fall into Sensory Integration, Self Regulation, Relational, and Cognitive with interventions focused on Essential, Therapeutic, or Enchainment interventions and activities. The NMT assessment allows us to more specifically target our therapeutic interventions to further meet then needs and goals of the individual.
